This 3-piece award winning set contains the complete 2006, 2007 and 2008 race DVDs. Emmy winners of the National Academy of Television Arts & Science all three years.
The rivalry began in 2006, when Jeff King from Denali, Alaska, became a 4 time Iditarod Champion. King demonstrated a finesse that left his competitors in awe. There was one musher who watched very intently, Lance Mackey. Mackey already notched out a name for himself as a two-time Yukon Quest Champion and a top ten finisher in "The Last Great Race."
In 2007 it was Mackey's turn to stun the racing world. He combined fate with fortitude and became the third Mackey to win the Iditarod wearing bib #13. Lance was preceded by his brother Rick and father Dick. Both wore bib #13...all three mushers won their Iditarod on their sixth try. But Lance's sheer determination put him in a place that rose above all others...he won 1000 (plus) mile races back to back (the Yukon Quest and the Iditarod). It had never been done before.
In 2008 the two top teams in the mushing world went head on, while a record field of 94 other teams watched in awe. Lance Mackey and Jeff King were literally neck and neck all along the "Gold Coast" of Alaska changing leads, using every trick they could conjure up on each other. In the end it was Mackey who snuck out of a checkpoint and gained an hour lead on King. That was enough to repeat his herculean effort of winning both the Yukon Quest and the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race...for the second year in a row.
Iditarod Insider was there capturing the intensity of "Mother Nature's Turn to Dance" in 2006, and documenting one of the most epic victories in Iditarod History "As Tough as They Come" in 2007 and "Deja Vu" in 2008. Each DVD length: 90 min.
